Christ-Centred. Kingdom-Focused

Vision

At the heart of our vision for Horizon Church is a passion to seek, save, and disciple the lost. We desire to build a strong, city-impacting church, developing and modeling New Testament government, structure, ministry and leadership style.

We give ourselves to the restoration of the church, and to the complete recovery of dynamic New Testament Christianity. We want to be a Word- based people, insisting only on what the Word teaches, shunning what it does not teach.

We believe the church's mandate is to "disciple nations" through the planting of New Testament churches in every village, town and city of every country. To this end, our commitment and vision is to build a base church where we can train and equip people and leaders to go and reach the nations.

We believe in the church in the city. In reality, Horizon Church is only a congregation that makes up part of the church in the city. We value other congregations in the city and seek to work together wherever possible, with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Values

Our values refer to those characteristics that are intrinsic to our make-up as a church. Remove or dilute these attributes and we cease to be 'us'. Whilst there are many other aspects to who we are as a church, the following list contains the essential, non-negotiable elements that make us distinctively who we are.

  • The Bible is our standard for all belief, instruction, practice and policy.
  • Loving relationships should permeate every aspect of church life. We value friendship before function.
  • Worship is central to our knowledge and experience of God and we will seek to constantly lift Him up individually and corporately with all the passion in us.
  • We believe in vulnerability and authenticity. We are committed to being real and not religious.
  • Lost people matter to God and therefore matter to us. The main mission of our church is to reach out to pre-Christians.
  • We want to live in the grace of God - to enjoy liberty, not legalism or licentiousness.
  • Full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer. Our desire is for the majority to carry the minority.
  • The church should operate as a unified community of servants exercising their spiritual gifts. At Horizon, every member is a minister.
  • Life change happens best in small groups. We are committed to working out all the "one another's' in homegroups.
  • We sincerely believe that prayer makes a critical difference in all that we attempt.
  • Character is more important than talent. We believe our character qualifies us for ministry, not our gifting.
  • We believe in creativity. Our desire is to see creative flare restored to the church in all forms of the arts.
  • We believe in excellence. Our desire is to be a well administrated church that aims for excellence in all areas and at the same time lives in the organic life of God - being led by the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to break in with anything at any time.
